Off topic chat about anything you like. Doesn't have to be about XMs (though they will inevitibly come up!). You can even discuss non-Citroens :o in here!

I love cars that have sat in these locations!! They can be such a bargain because people cannot see past the dirt! Witness the pictures!! AMAZING!!!

Being a H plate shes after the Change over, from Phase 1 to Phase 2... differences being, trim, spoiler change, NON Coated pipe work (On Phase 1).. I would have said she was a Phase 2, because of the smaller spoiler and later bumper, so the Phase 1 rear lamps are not right for the year. I DO prefer the smoked lamps actually...I prefer the Phase one spoiler though...

Looking good, expensive mechanical work all done apart from head off...Has she a 'Cat' or was that a Phase 2 standard addition?

Ive worked on one of these, its not a bad job getting the head off, exhaust is easy to get too, manifold can come off with it, but its a damm sight easyer with the inlet off!!

Dean, 16v, 1905cc tuned for power, putting out a massive 165bhp! In a tin can bady, man these were quick, IIRC, 0-60 in 7.8 seconds - on a par with the XM 24v Series 1....

It is a non-cat Phase 2, with 136k miles and had been fully maintained until being laid up with a misfire. More news later as I delve deeper...

Well, this morning I stripped out the interior up to the front seats, got poking around the whole body as well as flash-photographing the underside (some 'orrible pics!), found a load of crunchy seams, stuck a screwdriver through dodgy looking areas of inner wings... you know the sort of stuff...

And...

Reality check time. Body's in a poor state. So it's future as a complete car is in the balance.

More news later.

OK I might've been rash. And if it had worked out to not be so crumbly, I might have allowed myself a smile of satisfaction. But, as they say, pride comes before a fall.

If anyone wants to make me an offer and are able to pick it up soon, I will always give consideration and withdraw it from eBay if it's going to help me recover a decent proportion of my costs.

cheers chaps.

Should stick to XMs

Should stick to XMs
They rust too, albeit not as badly. (Best to avoid estates, Mr Heuliez has a reputation for making Citroens rust, expecially ones which shouldn't like the XM and Xantia.)

I read this utter fascination, what a great story! Well done for saving an excellent BX, and I'm very annoyed I missed the bargain ebay auction.

As somebody who could possibly be taking on a Renault 25 V6 that is in a very similar situation (hasn't been started in 8 years), I may be looking to you for some tips :D

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo :o

I love the 25, and the PRV in the 25 should be good! And make a nice sound like the XM S1's

Always wanted a 25 when I was younger, then when I was ready, I couldn't find one... :(

Also like the 25...an S1 V6 turbo Baccara with cream leather...sofas :D please for me...!

However, it's a couple of clicks below the XM in terms of handling...it's mainly good for "barging".

The Safrane is just the same philosophy of car, but bettered...was looking at Safrane's before buying my V6 XM. I love the interior -one of my favorites- but it's SO bland outside, it's a shame. The 4x4 Turbo has our PRV in it, and there are surprisingly more than u think for sale...in France/Germany
