Private plates
My XM estate is having problems with it's hydraulics and I fear it is near "the end of the road"
. It is on private plates. My query is.... am I better getting the plates transferred now whilst it is still on the road with presumably the extra cost of new number plates?

Re: Private plates
You can put the car on a retention certificate to keep the number valid for a year whilst your Xm
still shows an MOT pass certificate. I believe you cannot transfer a number where the car has lapsed
this legality. The car's original number at issue will be given back to it once the cherished number is
removed so if you have the original plates it shouldn't cost you any more than the retention fee - £80.

Re: Private plates
Only should you be considering scrapping the car...
any info on the car to fill in blanks would be interesting to those on this forum who
could be interested in it as spares or a going concern? It's a s1 '93 vintage TD estate
but is it manual or auto and whereabouts are you?
What's the deal with the suspension then - still problems with the running height?

Re: Private plates
It's a white estate, manual.
A pipe blew last week, also a rear suspension piston came out. The garage did their best but now the rear height adjuster is leaking.
I would love to keep it on the road but am concerned about throwing good money after bad so feel this is a good time to look at the overall situation.
I live in Wakefield.

Re: Private plates
She would go as a complete car Paul but at the moment I'm just looking at the situation. She is at a garage for the height adjuster to be replaced.
