I wasn't on the 'old site' before but the one linked at the top seems to be working fine - but I prefer the layout on here.

Re: Well Guys YOU SPOKE TOO SOON
Hi all.
I am glad to see the old forum back and I will double post if need be as I did like Noz's input. I am fond of this forum too and am thankfull Ciaran did as he did and only wish they could be joined in some way, but still seperate! I too was a bit pissed off at mr Light, I even offered a Danish expert who taught all these computer languages and she could have fixed the problem in a couple of minutes, and for me, free!

Re: Well Guys YOU SPOKE TOO SOON
Unfortunately the problem remains with the "absentee" owner of the old club-xm and the non existence of any warranty that he will not decide to pull the plug off in 1, 5, or 10 years.
Shame as Norrie dedicates, and has dedicated, so much of his time to it. Not fair, really.
cheers

Re: Well Guys YOU SPOKE TOO SOON
Hi guys,
Glad to see the old forum and its valuable posts have been saved from the bin, over a year on or not, there's a lot of useful content which it would have been a pain to loose.
WIth regards to this forum, like we always discussed, it will continue as normal. Whether people choose to post to one, or both, is of course their personal preference, but this one will continue to operate for as long as the XM community finds a use for it. All in all it should be business as usual, bar possibly a name change.
Appreciate the comments regarding the fact that many people have found a happy home here, its been a pleasure running the site this past year and its nice to know it puts something back into the community that I, and all of us, have benefitted from in so many ways over the years.
The one thing I can say is there will not be any issues over 'copyright' of material etc. I know there were concerns about this on the other site. The way it stands here, is that the poster of content has the rights to it, not the site, me, or anyone else. Of course its encouraged that in keeping with the spirit of the forum, that any matter posted (on what is, afterall, a public website), may be used by other members fo various purposes, even if the original creator has requested that copyright be acknowledged. That aside, you will not see any assertion of copyright or ownership on any of this from me. The site is merely the mechanism by which the material is posted, it or I, don't 'own' anything.

Re: Well Guys YOU SPOKE TOO SOON
Thanks Ciaran, I hope you realise that all your selfless work is much appreciated, and I'm glad to hear that normal service will continue, I for one shall certainly be here as long as I can hammer on the keys
Thankfully so far my own XM has remained exceptionally reliable, but certainly, for me, part of the consideration with running such a car is the resource of wonderfully knowledgeable and kind hearted individuals who frequent here

Cheers,
J.

Re: Well Guys YOU SPOKE TOO SOON
Hi All
I am pleased to see the response from Ciaran that this site should continue.
I am also pleased that Norrie has finally got the old site up and running again.
That has retreived public access to the historical infomation our community has created over the years.

Nice one Ciarán, your work is very much appreciated
This place is MUCH more than just a forum to post problems, it "feels" like a community. wonder why Noz chose not to write here, at the very least to inform folk what was happening...
Don't suppose you could set up a new topic for pug 307's 'cos i'm having a bit of bother

Re: Well Guys YOU SPOKE TOO SOON
.
This forum is now my first port of call.
After checking out any new posts here, I have a look at what's happening on the old forum.
I don't think double posting is necessary, it would be time consuming and pointless. A link to any items of interest on the alternate forum would be sufficient.
I think the two XM forums can run along side each other pretty well, with members hopping from one forum to the other and usefull info being shared between the two.
Only problem is....they look so alike, I keep forgetting which one I'm on
Try running both forums at once in seperate browsers and see if you can keep track of where you are

As others have said, well done Ciaran, your hard work and dedication really is appreciated........just one thing though.....please don't change the name
