Hi Everyone
Looking for a bit of tech assistance....yes it involves a computer !! ....am looking to purchase a LEXIA DIAGNOSTIC INTERFACE PEUGEOT CITROEN DIAGBOX PP2000 UK Including the PC
Does anyone have experience with this stuff ? It comes with a lead to an OBD2 plug
I would like to know if this thing will communicate with my 97 XM V6 ?
Assume I will need a cable from OBD2 to 30 pin ? ..one that actually works
So anyone out there that could give me a few pointers it would be much appreciated
Lexia

Re: Lexia
The 16 pin to 30 pin adapter cables are not easy to find now. The original Lexia 3 had a 30 pin round connector in the cable, to which was connected either a 30 pin rectangular adapter or a 16 pin OBD2 adapter cable. Later versions did away with the 30 pin round connector and had a OBD2 to 30 pin rectangle converter.
I think that they are hard to find now. I bought mine 15 years ago so can't help much with that.
If you get desperate, you can make your own adapter using an OBD2 socket from a later car and a 30 pin plug salvaged from the wiring harness of a series 1 Xantia, where the same connector happened to be used for a different purpose.
Note that when configured for a car with the 30 pin diagnostic socket, the pins on the OBD2 connector are mostly reassigned for custom purposes, and I have heard of people destroying their Lexia interface by selecting a vehicle of the wrong type.

Re: Lexia
These might help.
I haven't checked the accuracy of the OBDII to 30 pin connector diagram, yet.

Re: Lexia
Cables still look available, and for not much more than a song: https://www.obdexpress.co.uk/wholesale/ ... -tool.html Just one, I also saw round-to-ours.
But, for the rest of it, what is the current situation? I helped to source one for my then mechanic about ten years ago, I remember he needed an Win XP to use it with any chance of success. Probably could do it in a VM these days. If I just search for it on Ali, the current ones tend to come with a self-contained hardware unit (which still conects to a computer, I suppose). Some include the cable above, or others might use a separately bought cable. Version numbers, of course, are much newer than back then. What's the current status of science? Are these readily available cheapo Chinese ones still usable with our aged ladies?
And if the cable is OBD-to-ours, is it wishful thinking to wish about connecting a contemporary OBD-whatever-reader (maybe a phone app or similar) via such a cable?

Re: Lexia
From tests previously, I believe the OBDII protocol to be incompatible with our cars which are OBDI

Re: Lexia
Yes, I know, full ODB was just an afterthought, it really isn't necessary. But if those devices can still be used from a computer, maybe with even less problems than the need for a dedicated XP machine back then, either virtually, or with the separate hardware just connected via USB, with some of those offers costing significantly less than half a tank of petrol, then, why the heck not. Only that instead of trying it out for myself and being disappointed, I got the idea of asking first.

Bye,
Gábor
