a quick challenge ....both are executive with black leather interior...the TD is manual ....the other is auto....which would you prefer to own? [I have the latter...the other is for sale here]

There'll be no agreement on this, but if torque is your thing (peaking at 2000rpm), 40+ economy, a 'box with no worries and probably the best clutch anywhere, no idling issues, exhausts that last forever, and no ignition system, then it has to be . . .

They didn't make the engine then. I would always go for a diesel and manual, nicer to drive, more economical and no auto box worries. The 2.5 is a superb drive although personally I prefer the 2.1, easier to work on and better parts availability. I have a 2.5 of John's here and its the best XM I have ever driven.
