Could you turn that Allen bolt with an 8mm flat ratchet spanner fitted with an 8mm hex bit (or short length of hex key)?

You could if you have one, in reality though it's not that tight to get to, 10 minutes to change the belt is ample and in terms of most engines the belt is very easy to change as it is sat right on top of the engine. Its actually easier to change than the belt on the 2.0 engine.

Yes, this is one of my favorite tools for working on the ES9J4!Could you turn that Allen bolt with an 8mm flat ratchet spanner fitted with an 8mm hex bit (or short length of hex key)?

She is leaking something from underneath, an oil haze but watery a bit like diesel but not obviously. I will try to find the cause on Thursday as I'm away from home tomorrow white sheet under her if its dry then.

That is fantastic news Peter and now she just needs a good clean!! The oily haze that you mentioned will very likely be a pin-hole in a high pressure brake or suspension pipe. With regards, Matthew T.
