xantia_v6 has jumped ship!

Post by xantia_v6 » Wed Apr 03, 2013 8:20 pm

It looks like I have agreed to buy am XM. Price has been negotiated, but I won't be sure until the transaction next weekend.
Many of you will know me from FCF. I have been running Xantias since 2001, and am on my third V6 Xantia.
My other vice is Jag V12s, I own a (now rather rare) 1975 XJ-S which is in long term storage in New Zealand, and an E-type series 3 V12 in the UK in generally pretty tidy condition.
Anyway, here are some teaser pics of the car I am buying...

Late V6-24v (ES9J) manual. So must be LHD.
That missing main bolt on the rear subframe looks a bit worrying.

Is this the one from Ebay.de that has been bumped at the front?

It all looks very clean and rust free.

Yes John, you are correct about the model. The missing bolt had not registered with me, just a coincidence that I happened to photograph that.
It has probably been missing since new. XMs....

I won't be back in time for the meet on Sunday.

No this one is from France and was a bit more expensive than a typical German machine, but the condition makes it worthwhile (I hope).

My plan is that it will live (mostly) in France, as I have an apartment and garage in burgundy.

Clean?? it has the receipts to prove it! the last dealer service has a line item for washing the underside of the car!

Lucky you (Burgundy...) but it's got a rusty spare wheel, so can't be good! :) :)

Hi Mike and welcome to Club-XM :D :D :D Great to see you here and I hope my move across to the land of the XM hasn't influenced you

That one of yours looks very special but as I said on the phone the other day, it has too many pedals for me... I can always let you have an HP20 if you want to make it correct :)

I can't wait to see it up close ;)

Had another look at that last photo and the main bolt is present.
Seems to be an extra hole drilled in the leading edge of the subframe.
Never seen that before.
The metalwork looks to be in superb condition compared to uk cars.
Hope you find XM ownership as enjoyable as I do.

Thanks,

The main problem with this car is that it has not been started for about 3 years, so I have my fingers crossed that a new battery will get it mobile. It only has 70,000 km on the clock and has been stored in a cool dry garage, so I don't expect that anything has seized up.

I suspect that hole is a water drain hole.
