New Owner - Hi

Post by beko1987 » Thu Mar 28, 2013 1:56 pm

Hi Guys.

My name is Sam, and I have bought an XM! Have always had a soft spot for them, and got talking to Campbell (Messerchmitt owner) on another forum, and have bought his lovely 2.0TCT Auto! ()http://www.club-xm.co.uk/forum/viewtop ... =19&t=3725

Been running a 1.4 ZX for 7 months and it's been faultlessly reliable, so hoping that trend will continue! Have to say I've been reading pretty much every topic on this forum (and the .com site) and XM's don't seem as scary as the stories I've heard. Hopefully I won't be disappointed.

Not picking her up for another few weeks, but am looking forward to it! Read CitroJim's LHM flushing guide, and a few topics relating to the rear height correcter (as this one stick apparently) so will hopefully make those one of the first jobs I do.

Cheers

Sam

I'll have a small collection of 2 citroens for a few days, may have to get a photoshoot organised!

Thanks for the words of encouragement! I'll remember that when I'm asking random questions...

Anyone want a 1.4 ZX?

Welcome Sam. I wouldn't worry so much, everyone on here will ask at least one strange question about something XM related some point. It is their nature to be a bit mysterious some times!

Hope you enjoy your new purchase.

Welcome Sam.
In my opinion and experience XM are reliable cars once the age and neglect related issues are sorted.

Welcome Sam.. My byesed opinions are always for series one cars :-)..

As for sticky height correctors that's rubbish... The xm did not use the stupid linkage setup like the xantia.. However what you might find once you get under is the pivot on the height corrector control rod might be partially sized.. Mine was on my latest project.. See my blogspot in members cars.. 'Pauls latest 2.1 sd manual now with pics' iI think I posted pics of mine on there..

Height correctors them self don't stick generally it's just unmaintained linkages.. ;)

Thanks for the tip on the rear height issue, will have a search for any posts on it. I presume its a remove, strip, clean rebuild and refit job to get it working correctly?
