I have now taken the fuse box apart..... I find burnt contacts in the lead connector as well as the box contacts for F2 and bad corrosion on the fuse blade springs and in the under box connector to most of the other wires.

I am replacing the fuse box with a very clean one from a scrapped Xantia as well as running a connection out to a Maxi-Fuse holder for F2.

You're in good company in doing all that, Alasdair. Well worth updating.

ABS light now goes OFF and the Climate Control panel lights up and works...SUCCESS !

Fuse box changed for a very clean Xantia one (yes they are the same) I had on the shelf.....

I disconnected fuse F2 and fitted it via a new Maxi-Fuse holder.
I do not like the thought of a modern after-market in-line type in an old engine bay......it just LOOKS wrong.

I've a few now from the xantias I took apart strangely they didn't appear to suffer the same thing and all the boxes I've taken off xantias have been in good order.

they are not low down in the front of the engine bay for a start ............less corrosion, less resistance, less heat in the connections.

The relay is inside a black plastic module screwed onto the Abs valve block.
If the fault is intermittent its possible the relay is sticking, if permanent then it's likely so be cracked solder joints, or one leg broken off the diode.

There are a number of wires, but one of the connectors has the pins all linked together to handle the current.

If you don't have a replacement module, you will need to cut the unit open and glue it back together after repair.
If you do have a replacement unit, I would like the faulty one to repair.
