I have just heard back from the organiser he would like us to attend the event that is rather exciting. For your interest here is a list of the winning and 2nd and 3rd placed cars since the start in 1964:

Amongst other things I noted that the XM beat the Mercedes SL (my brother has one!!) and both the GS and CX were previous winners, with the SM, AX, ZX, Xantia, C3 and C4 all previous runners up. I hope they manage to find a working NSU Ro80!

The SL was a tough nut to crack back then. I remember the hooha about it. Bit like the XM really...first new model since the 70's ect....My aunt used to work for a Merc garage and we were treated to a private showing of the car and it's roof in the showroom.

It does sound like a good show. You'll have to get some good pics for us Matthew. :) a working NSU won't be too hard to find. I know there is one somewhere around here.

So on the theme of car of the year.. 2014 is the Peugeot 308. Which being against the BMW i3 and Tesla Model S and Merc S class, is a slightly out of the blue decision. But then when has the result ever been what you might expect.....

It's a good car, but it had some innovative competition.
