They let me in and traditionally I always attend in a Xantia but not this year. This year I'll be in an XM :D

I have heard a tale, maybe apocryphal, that a fair few years ago a member turned up in a Citroen that was not a DS and was asked to park it outside the field...

We non-DS visitors now seem to park at the bottom of the field and make our own rally within a rally...

We actually park as far away from the clubhouse to avoid, as for as possible, having to listen to Nigel Wild's choice of piped music. It's very French and to my ears very dire...

As with all Clubs there are going to be different members with different interest and of course in the case of the CCC there are the DS/SM/Traction brigade that are very much just into their "classic" Citroens.

As years go by I think things are getting better. Perhaps time to test it out though - might turn up in the Boy Racer C4...

Of course there are lots of very nice people that own the DS/SM/Tractions, just a few are strong in their views of what a "classic" Citroen is etc.

Edit - as with all CCC Events, anyone is any Citroen is welcome. Some even let you in with a non-Citroen... ;)

Try getting a test drive in a DS...even a test ride is a major challenge. Only two SM turned up last year.

Excellent. I haven't seen your XM close up Jim.

Just rudeness!

Fair enough.

Oh bloody hell!

Just a quick question to people going to the DS Rally...

Wondering whether anyone was coming down from the West Yorkshire area, as I've got a parcel shelf for an XM for Eddie Nuff which I can take to the DS Rally but unfortunately he can't make it...

It'd be greatly appreciated if someone could help out - PM Neil or myself if you can...

Thanks!

Thanks for posting Franklin,

More details can be found on the D Section Facebook page

The rally is open to all, and though I can't speak for everyone, I think most D owners enjoy seeing other Citroen models at the rally, and would hate to be considered stuffy! I like to drive my ID, and am a little put out that as a D owner, I might be considered "stuffy". If you think the D Rally needs to be improved, then let the organisers know how you think the rally could be made better! (or volunteer to help with the organising)

This really needs clearing up - About 6 or 7 years ago the rally field was FULL of D's, SM's and camping unit's...and OVERFLOW parking was used in the carpark and next field. Any later arrival not in a D or SM were directed to the overflow carpark, just as would happen at any other event. It was not intended to cause offence, nor was it intended to be discriminatory based on the car driven. It's a shame it was misinterpreted, but I don't think the CCC/D Section meant any malice.

Any way hope to see some of you there,
Kris

Thanks for the explanation Kris, makes perfect sense! As I said I did not know of any provenance of the story I was told...

I'll be there as I'm local, living just about 12 miles away. I'm hoping to have both my XM and Activa there for the full weekend..

Well that sounds perfectly acceptable! Why the fuss? ;)
Thanks Kris for explaining. I havent been to a D/SM rally before, just mixed events and of course the CXM and X rally, but I'm looking forward to it. I will be there on the Sunday. I am preparing some DS and SM things for the rally. :D

Thanks Vince, if you do pop down that'd be great - I'll pop Neil a PM to let him know it's a "possible".

Still unsure what we're going in, probably just one car as I won't be taking the C4. Hmm, might be the S1 24v.
