I do agree but i get the impression that Derek would not be a happy man at all if he was kicked out of the kitchen Matthew.
I know what you mean Dean and I appreciate it may be a sensitive issue and difficult one for Patrick and Franklin to address. Perhaps Derek could still be involved with outside caterers as a kind of 'Master of Ceremonies'! Regards, Matthew T.

I don't think any of the disappointment in the evening meal lies with the event organisers, but it did seem expensive for a buffet.
I certainly agree it was no fault of the organisers Will and I would not have minded the cost if the food was better. Having said that the grub at the pub last year was rather poor and may be the chef is just not up to the task!! With regards, Matthew T.

I think i would leave you to tell Derek that Matthew  , and for the numbers attending i would guess meals would be charged at around £20 a head with catering brought in, it would be cheaper to say to members attending to sort their own food at the pub, there is too greater chance of the organisers loosing money otherwise, the event needs to pay for itself but i see your point.

Probably along the lines of how hideous it was TBH...

Regarding the evening meal, perhaps I've got low standards however all that I ate was perfectly fine (as well as last year) and one and all could definitely get their monies worth - it was all you could eat so go up as many times as you like. As I put in my response to Neil a few pages back look at the cost in relation to the rest of the weekend cost... Comments here - 7th paragraph down.

Derek does a fantastic job in the Club House kitchen and willingly volunteers to help - we know that Derek is not at the peak of his health however during the busy peak times we were very appreciative of those that helped out. We had expected another pair of helping hands to come along for the weekend to help however circumstances meant that this didn't come about - we are a volunteer lead organisation at the end of the day...

Two years ago we had to opt for a Hog Roast in the Club House due to the previous landlords leaving and closing the pub down, this was from memory £12 per head and we lost money on this too. It's impossible to please everyone however some people liked the hog roast, some didn't, some liked the set menu at the pub last year, some didn't, some liked the buffet this year, some didn't. It's impossible to please everyone - some might like a BBQ, others won't.

We could of course also save ourselves the hassle and not organise any food at all - people could sort their own out however then people wouldn't like that either...
