Not sure there were any cars ex-factory without spoilers.

Oh ok - someone commented on my intro thread that my car wasn't quite the poverty spec as I claimed to be as it has a spoiler, a tach and a glovebox lock etc...White Exec wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2019 6:53 amNot sure there were any cars ex-factory without spoilers.
Maybe that was a joke I didn't quite get...

Re: A MK1 rear wing/spoiler request!
I think that a point of confusion is that the lowest specification XMs were not generally sold into RHD markets, so a base spec UK car had more features than a base spec European car.
I expect that the market demand for base spec XMs disappeared with the introduction of the cheaper Xantia in 1993, and the Xantia Break in 1995.

As you can see there is a reinforcing doubler inside.
And it definitely needs a ballast - maybe the latch is not as sharp as it should but needs good slamming to close it.

To complete the basic look, you need to change the wheeltrims to the plain ones...and maybe remove the hydractive suspension too.

Hmmm - not sure about those weird looking wheel trims but I don't mind going non-Hydractive!
I just need the bits for them. I should remove centre console and find an analogue clock instruments also.

Don't forget to wind the clock at least once a week.
Go back far enough, and Jaeger actually made clockwork car clocks that were electrically rewound! As the mainspring tension fell away, it triggered a solenoid impulse to give it a bit of a re-wind.
Non-Hydractive shouldn't be a problem Just a matter of the right spheres and pulling a fuse.
No, I didn't suggest that, I really didn't.

Fascinating! As long as it works, right?White Exec wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2019 11:25 amDon't forget to wind the clock at least once a week.

Well, what IS non-Hydractive XM ride like?White Exec wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2019 11:25 amNon-Hydractive shouldn't be a problem Just a matter of the right spheres and pulling a fuse.

I've had CX, GSA, C5, C6 & XM and driven DS and SM. Non-Hydractives have been far better in terms of ride (at the expense of roll control but I can live with that). C6 had by far the worst ride in my opinion. XM has been very good.
