Citroen XM V6 Dyno run

Watched this today and while I don't speak the lingo and there are no English captions I believe they have dyno'd an Automatic 12v V6 XM that has 155'000km on the clock and it would appear to make more power than originally stated.

Engine specs from manufacturer were 167.6hp (170ps) and 173ft.lb (235nm)
Dyno results on this old girl (providing the dyno was calibrated properly) were 178.5hp (181ps) and 176ft.lb (239nm)

Wouldn't have thought this was at the wheels, must be calculated at the crank in which case the numbers may be a little off anyway but even so, not bad numbers for the old tub.

So when are you going to do yours then Dean?.....Or is that just the worst idea ever!!

That is quite impressive figures. Wish all cars would get faster the older they get!

Citroen did the same with the Cx.. the series one T1 cx gti turbo was 167bhp stock... they used those figures right to the end.. where s2 t2 gti cx got a bigger turbo plus an intercooler but were only ever quoted 167bhp where infact they were closer to 200 bhp .. i beleve 198bhp or so....

Would be interesting to have a 24v PRV Dyno tested and see how that stacks up too.

Sure they do but auto boxes lose an equal amount of power at the same rate as Diesel's gain it ;)

What you gain with one hand, you can lose with the other. Shame.

Must say, from a good few years of reading posts about Citroen auto box delicacy and woes, I'm glad it's something I don't have to worry about. Spent years at work driving auto's, 30k mi a year, and appreciate what a hard life they have, but more than happy not to have to maintain one. Not sure that Cit's modern a/boxes actually compare too well, reliability-wise, with an old Borg-Warner 65, for example, even when attached to a torquey V8. Torque converter lock-up is a great step forward, but in other respects, not sure about our recent boxes.

Aisin seems to be a different story.
