It didn't seem to do anything untoward and it was taken from an identical car so hopefully I didn't need anything up. Only difference is I have noticed the anti sink device working better!

Are you sure about this?
Not just model type, but RP number and equipment level? Serial/version number on the two boards?

That's far from OK but will explain why you have a dimly lit light after switching off.

Could you disconnect that timer box temporarily? I wouldn't be surprised if that cured most of your problems. This timer is fed directly from your F5 and it seems to have a short of some sorts between its feed and output (faulty switching transistors, that is).

Without the timer you won't have internal lighting (unless you have a replacement at hand) but all the rest could return to normal.

As another idea, if the timer will be the culprit and you don't have a replacement, it would be relatively easy to remove the internals and replace it with a single connection to earth. That way you could regain some (but not all) of the switching functions of the interior lighting but without the dimming. It just switches off at once.

I have the same problem with my 98 XM LHD 3LV24, namely that after winter storage, the interior lights won't turn off.
I don't have the other side effects of the original poster. My problem seems intermittent; sometime cycling the right front window turns the dimmed lights off.

What this problem ~ever~ fully resolved?
My suspicion is that it is some sense switch on the door, its wiring, or a faulty dimming relay.

If you can trigger it with the door, then that would be the first to check. All four switches work in parallel to send a ground to the timer relay.

is this blue box on the bottom left of this pic the timer you are talking about?

Blue, under glovebox, according to the diagram. Should be. It has a 7-pin brown connector, hasn't it?

The blue one in the LH corner of your photo is on the main fuseboard, and is rear screen wiper timer.
The lighting timer (#961, and possibly blue) is plugged into a 7-pin brown connector, and on a RHD car could well be on the driver's side.
