Fusebox Replacement

So someone may have removed that unit. I doubt it is part of the CC system. The CC ECU is in the engine bay.

Couldn't it be the Door Locking Control Unit?

Where is the 'little black box', I think may be the Door Locking Unit, missing? On your car or on the donor car? :roll:

I think the missing box links between the alarm, indicators and deadlocks.
Pulling one of the two plugs is a common method to save fault finding in a complex system on Mk2's.
Many similar age PSA vehicles have a visually identical box with the same type and colour plug sockets.
There were many variants of the box made over the years with different part numbers.
Later boxes will work in earlier vehicles but earlier boxes in later vehicles can give problems.

I think you are right, John. It's part #55 in the electrical diagrams. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Ok thanks for your replies. Sorry if 'little black box' was misleading. It's a little bit smaller in surface area than a DVD case but thicker.

Have looked through a selection of recovered and NOS ones.
Will list TEXTON part number and manufacturing date.
96203000.80 - 07/10/94.
96221032.80* - 12/2/99.
96239040.80* - 08/10/01.
96266428.80 - 15/03/00.
96266430.80 - 02/04/97.
A number were in boxes marked 6680.95 but as with all NOS you usually cannot be certain it is factory sealed.
It happens sometimes that after the new component is fitted the old one is put in the box or packaging and put to one side.
The items marked with a * have an extra third two pin connector.

John, do we have reliable RHD part location diagrams somewhere? Not in my scanned diagram book I used to create the PDF from but in your huge collection maybe?

Hi Gabor

A quick look seems to indicate none have come my way.
Format seems to be:
Wiring loom layout diagram LHD;
Detailed wiring diagram LHD;
Detailed wiring diagram RHD.

I have found it very easy to work between LHD layout and RHD wiring.
The bulk of all XM wiring is laid out as LHD.
Only the dash area has RHD variations and this is often just wire lengths.
This makes considerable sense as the XM dash was a single component built and tested separately in the factory.
It was then inserted in the car shell by robotic arm.
I have always assumed that the dash to car connectors are common in type, wiring and position.
Best example of this I think is the main fuse board, passenger side on RHD, drivers side on LHD.
Never confirmed this on an actual car so please tell me if I am wrong.
I think there is variation with the heater box but this is put in the chassis before the dash.
