I purchased this xm on ebay now its a rough example
But perfect for what its about to do
Me and my dad decided to do benidorm bangers for help for hero charity (no begging for cash just after xm advice)
And both being mechanics wanted to undertake a old citroen on hydro
Well found this one thats been sat 10years
Anyway il keep you updated on progress
As we build and paint it a bit crazy

Welcome! Sounds a great project.

You might want to see swap the wheels. The original alloys are now quite rare and there are plenty of folk around with surplus steel rims that are far more durable for what you are planning. Just a thought.

Enjoy and keep us posted.

Ahh.... the Glasgow car.... be interesting to see what that turns up...

Best of Luck with the Benidorm Bangers, that's something I've always wanted to do!

Wow, you're mad! ...but what a brilliant thing to do, and the best car to do it in. Best of luck with both .....you might need it!

I would have been interested in that car if it hadn't been 300 miles away. If you decide to not use it for the charity run, please let me know.

You need to get underneath it and check for rust before doing anything to it.

You should at least be able to do the run in the most comfortable car taking part!

Hi everyone
Bit more info
http://www.benidormbangers.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Bit more info on the car
She jumpstarted into life. Clutch gearbox feel ok
Only ran her for 2 mins as theres no coolant so will need to go through a bit of a checklist
All the electrics are hay wire (guessing earths)
One slightly worring fault is the heater fans blowing on its own) so must be picking a live up?

List sort of goes
Suspension pipes
Sills
Brakes check over clean
Doorlocks
Coolant leak
And a huge clean after 10years

Yes its a massive project but fun aswell
And what a comfy car to use

Fans running by themselves could just be the A/C is on, bad coolant temp sensor or dodgy Bitron controller box, cant remember where that is though.
Best of luck, sounds like its going to be great fun.
