Car essay

Hi:
I´m putting together a set of essays on saloon cars of the period 1960-1980-something. So far I have six contributors, all from the CAR magazine forum. Three essays have been completed. I wonder if this is something some of you might like to get involved in. I can´t remember if I already asked about this. I put this project to one side several months ago to work on something else which is now completed. During this lull I may have forgotten a few details like who the heck I wrote to.
The brief is this: 6,000-7000 words on the subect of an important saloon, not necessarily a Citroen. It might be an imporant failure or an important success. Or just interesting. The article needs to be backed up by references to period books or magazine reviews. I´ve bought old magazines from e-bay. This is a way to avoid Martin Buckley-style handwaving where he just says what he thinks with no other supporting views.. So far the cars under consideration are the Peugeot 604, Lancia Gamma, Rover P6, 1979 Mercedes S-class and Alfa Romeo Giulia (60s model) and an un-named Antipodean saloon. The essays cover more than just the performance and technical data. The context of the car and its social significance are also relevant. I can send a copy of my 604 essay if you want a model to consider. There is no specific deadline, something medium term. I know people have other things to do besides speculative tracts of car journalism
The project hasn´t been sent out to any publishers. Payment (if there ever is any!) would be the advance and royalties divided by the number of contributors. For the moment, you´d have to write it because you really thought it was an interesting line of inquiry. I can´t offer any advance until someone else decides the venture is viable.
If you have any questions, let me know.
Regards,
Richard
