Had a curious thought to how much my XM would have been when new. A quick google revealed no such information, although I admit I haven't tried too hard.

Anyone got this information, or know where it is?

Cheers

I have one in but it's in Dutch money. Gave my a nice feeling, I'm driving a Fl 100.000 guilder car - which was back in 1996 an enormous amount of money for a car. Amn average new car would have been at around 20K, National average yearly income around 33K.:)

My first one, a '93 Mk1 cost me £6k at three years old which was cheap - until I found the head gasket was leaking. :(

A 1997 2.0 TCT VSX estate auto would have cost £23,755 new. According to my 1997 topgear magazine.
A v6 back then was £31.050.

Expensive I know. In today's money they must be close to £40k like the top ranging c6's.

Ive looked at it this way...

The XM (Top end cars) were the same price as the C6 was new!!!!

SO... guess where C6 prices will be in 10 years!!!!!

Lower spec cars were about 18k to 23k...
