Most remaining models....
Not sure about this.. I had a thought today, is there a way of finding out somehow, which car ANY model, has survived in numbers in total.... or if you wish, what model of car has been LEAST scrapped...
I dont think "How many Left" is very reliable...
Anyone any other ideas, Ive tried google searching but it comes up with other stupid crap...

Re: Most remaining models....
Intriguing! I suppose there must be a production total to scrappage ratio. Would it be something like classic Mini's, Landies, or 2CV, VW Beetles, Fiat 126?
One things for sure, it ain't the XM!!

Re: Most remaining models....
There must be....1.5 million DS built, compared to 333,000 XM. Plus more DS being restored than XM.
What about classic Aston's and Ferraris. Their production would be small, but there survival rate would be high.

Re: Most remaining models....
Practical Classics used to be able to get the data - presumably from the DVLA...
They used to run a feature every issue with a breakdown (sorry bad choice of word there) of every variant of a given model and their survival - taxed and on SORN.
They uncovered some oddities like convertibles and estates in models that never had them...
If they do the XM you never know, they might uncover a few XM decaps and coupés...
Might be worth a letter to Practical Classics. They seem quite an affable bunch...

Re: Most remaining models....
Not interested in Aston or Ferarri, this is'nt top gear. Im only talking "Normal" cars that you and I could offord to buy and run... Not over stuffed stupid metal that only film stars buy...
Yes 1.4 million were made, but no doubt 1.2 million rusted away.... but there still seems to be a lot of them..
Anyway. I was wondering globally... Theres a lot of Moggie minors about too...

Re: Most remaining models....
The information on HowManyLeft is completely reliable as it's just an extract of the data from DVLA.
You can download the complete information from DVLA and check every car model ever registered, as each model is given an individual code.
I did download the info a few times, but it's a lot of effort for nothing.

Re: Most remaining models....
Those were great features in practical classics. I'm like you Paul, I'm not totally convinced by the how many left. As Jim has said, some odd models were 'found'.
I agree with your anti Aston and Ferrari sentiment. But you can't deny, their survival rate would be high.
Mainstream models, .......what about Mercs. Loads have ended up in places like Bulgaria. W123's and the later 80's e-classes.
