Was filling up with diesel the other day (in Torre del Mar, east of Malaga), when what should pull up at the next pump, but one of these!
Bright yellow, immaculate, and 30 years old. Actually got to sit in it, and marvel at the copious dash...
A week before, at another fill, a cream C6 drew up to fuel. On Spanish plates (C6 is an unusual choice for the Spanish), but owner was Norwegian, and "holidayed a lot down here". Couldn't, apparently, face the "import" fee of taking it back to Norway, he said, so he had to "settle for a couple of XMs back home . . . as 'run-abouts' ". Like the C6 interior, he seemed to be fairly well upholstered, with wallet to match no-doubt.
Hell, after the XM, the C6 is just plain ugly. No wonder it's been knocked on the head. Not, of course, like Peter, I have anything against . . .

My parents has a similar car based on the Hillman Imp when they were working abroad that was great fun! With regards, Matthew T.

. . . probably more than an XM, then . . . Hmmm...
Given the choice, though, I think I'd rather drive the big fella. Perhaps the BX was a kind of half-way house: lightweight, easy to maintain, simple enough, but with all the delights of full-extension hydrapneumatic. Sometimes, it's only when you get rid of a car that you find out just how good it was - when you find that some of its qualities just aren't there any more. We both miss our 1989 19RD, with its eventually 'sorted' trim of twin fans, coolant expansion tank, a lifted GT rev-countered dash, and stunning 80/100W headlights. And the 1975 Rover P6 3500S, but that's another story.

I saw a yellow Mehari the other day too, parked outside a Citroen specialist so slightly cheating!
Very nice it was though, though they don't rust ...

Yes, I would think a good amount are on Galv. chassis now, but the body usually looks tidy, being plastic.
