Parking sensors with heads up display, projected on the windscreen. I wonder how hard they are to install. Don't really fancy drilling holes in my bumpers.

Would look cool though, my parking is pretty decent but I don't deny this wouldn't make things easier in an estate.

Hi,
i have parking sensors on my estate which were there when i bought it and yes you will have to drill holes in the bumper but they are very usefull for reversing there isn't a heads up display just a sounder which gets faster the closer the car is to a object i also have a reversing camera which plugs into the satnave but not found time to fit it yet.

Regards,
Norman

I was really taken with the reversing sensors on the BMW I had briefly - it also had a rear view camera but the sensors were much more ueful. As a result I decided to fit them to the 406 - not so good, they scream at you when approaching a blade of grass but quite happily allow you to reverse into a wall or another car :o I did have to drill the bumpers but they did provide the correct size of cutter with the kit. I think the problem with mine is that due to the shape of the bumper the sensors are angled slightly downwards. They are a very good idea if they work though.

You could fit http://www.parkingdynamics.co.uk/ to save drilling.

I quite like the idea of the heads up display, like being in a jet fighter! Not so keen on drilling out the bumper though. I wonder if I could fit them in where the chrome strip is as that could be replaced later if I wanted to keep the car original. Would look a bit ugly though if the sensors weren't flush.

Peter, I notice you live in Charmouth, I'm often over there visiting friends on Higher Sea Lane, can't say I've ever seen any of your XM's about though.

Sounds interesting, wonder how that works, some sort of sonic/radar?

Only thing is its an audible system, no good for me as I'm deaf. You can upgrade to the 3 led system but it doesn't really grab me. I just fancy the heads up display, don't really need parking sensors. Gonna do some googling see if there's another drilling free model with a more visual display.

I actually live in Wootton Fitzpaine about three miles from Charmouth. Up until I retired about seven years ago you would frequently have seen me in Charmouth as I was the local TV engineer, had several customers in Higher sea Lane. I don't get about in the XM a lot now, my wife drives it mostly I'm usually in a silver 406 estate - its more economical :D don't like the ride though :o Give us a call next time you are down - only remind me who you are I have a dreadful memory.

Hi,

Do you or anyone else have experience of this system in use? It looks interesting.

I know a garage that has fitted several and another person that has fitted one to their own car. Apparently it works well.

Fitted wireless reversing sensors 15 months ago on my estate, purchased on ebay, after backing into an illegally parked car while reversing out of inlaws drive, they worked well and saved a few bumps but alas not working any more, it had a display and audio beeps. thought price was very good, not so happy now though. yes had to drill bumper, but once painted body colour they look ok.
