Rattle

I've put this in here because I don't know in which help section it should go in! I decided to paint the sills and put the suspension into high. Finished painting and noticed what can best be described as a rattle coming from (I think) the front off side wheel. It makes the noise sitting on the drive just ticking over. It wasn't doing it before I lifted the suspension so what have I done? :?:

The most likely thing is an anti roll bar drop link, if its rattling at tickover its possible fallen apart.

Peter - bear in mind I know next to nothing about cars - is this dangerous to drive? I will have a look tomorrow.

No, not dangerous to drive, may roll a bit if you corner at 60 mph or more :D

And if you drive pass a Police/VOSA checkpoint it will guarantee you get pulled in and checked, so make sure everything else like tyres and lights etc are working OK ;)

I had one very puzzled VOSA mechanic trying to peer underneath and down the sides of the engine in mine a while ago to see if he could find anything wrong with the steering/suspension. He didn't ask if I knew about the noise. He just said it was all fine and roadworthy and have a nice day. He completely missed the large crack in the windscreen that I was on the way to have fixed that day as well.

I extreamilly DOUBT a drop link would rattle at tickover sitting still, they only rattle when moving!

It could be the exhaust sheld Chris!

I cant think of much else that would rattle while standing with the engine idleing..
