Will..
You HAD a chance to have a go in one at CXM last september, I had mine with me. Im gonna try and get her down again this September (2011) after a set of new spheres are fitted, a polish up, and LHM pipe fixed after it split at the pump.

The video does not show that, of course. What it does tell is that the ZPJ4 has its own particular signature sound, raw and less refined than the ES9J4. Personal opinion

Yes Jan, the Quad Cam is a VERY refind Quiet engine, but in UK only coupled to an auto box..
I still prefer an engine Roar, just as the 90 deg PRV does so! Love it..

I guess a Prius won't be an option for you, Paul
I actually gave it a try but returned to XM after a two and a half year sojourn.
I recollect my fondness of the very specific sound of my Puch MS50 moped when I was 16.
I recollect my fondness of the growl of the Honda S1300 4-carb, front wheel driven, dry sump air cooled engine, which was a thrill to drive with its dual pipe exhaust roar when pushed. When I was 36.
But now I am fond of the sedate sound, the finesse of the 60 deg engine of the XM. And I am 66.
This is an MV50, still have an MS50 as well
I loved this engine

I definitely do want a go in 'The beast'...just got busy last year, what with going to see that other XM as well..
I too prefer the growl of the PRV6 24valve, it sounds like an SM on song.
