Hi Guys

Any of you out there with HDi experienced poor cold running issues in the present weather ? Son has a 307 HDi and in the present cold snap the thing simply doesn't pull from a cold start, for a good two or three miles. Also shows horrendous fuel consumption when in this state. I know they are markedly more thirsty when cold, but this does seem outside the ususal parameters. I wonder if there is perhaps an oil temperature feed to the ECU and in very cold times it doesn't allow much action until the oil is up to a decent working figure ?

If its the same engine as my 406 which is the 110 hp Hdi, I can only say that mine has been brilliant, starts instantly and pulls well from cold and although the fuel consumption has dropped a little its still returning high 40s and that's with the auxilliary heater running most of the time. I don't know what it will be like tommorrow mind as we have been snowed in for 10 days and it hasn't been started.

Wouldn't know where to start looking for the problem though as I have only had mine for a few months and nothing has gone wrong with it so far, its done 190,000 miles too. Paul has had some experience of these and there is quite a bit of info on the French Car forum.
