Help! Can't stop my headlights flashing!

Please someone help! I disconnected the battery this afternoon to change my seats. Now I've reconnected it and the headlights are flashing permanently. I know there's some sequence you have to do like deadlocking it , then turning the ignition with one of the dash switches pressed, patting your head then turning round three times, but I just can't remember what it is. The battery will be flat by morning if I don't sort it.
Thanks
Andrew

iirc. You put the key in the ignition and turn to Ign, then press the alarm button.

I thought it was something like that but it doesn't work.

Have you tried the under bonnet key switch?

No, but I will. That might be it. Otherwise I'll just drive everywhere with the headlights on, like a Volvo, and then disconnect the battery when I stop!
Cheers

Start the engine before holding down the alarm switch for a peiod of time.
You may need to switch off then repeat the process.
Underbonnet switch just switches the siren on and off so you may regret trying that.

.
The alarm/security device on these cars often goes a bit crazy after the battery has been reconnected.
The under bonnet key switch and the dash board switch have never been of any use in my experience.
I usually find that disconnecting the alarm control unit in the passenger footwell stops the immediate problem. Then I reconnect it after a day or two after everything has settled down.
I think XM's don't like a change in their routine, and get into a bit of a petulant strop if you do something different  .

But, my white SX has been sounding it's alarm siren a lot recently, particularly after start up in the mornings (even though I have disconnected the box in the passenger footwell :? ).
But it hasn't done it for a couple of days (fingers crossed it stays that way, or the front bumper comes off and the siren feels the full weight of my lump hammer  ).

Hi Andrew,on mine after reconnecting the battery i simply set the lock and alarm on the plip and then unlock on the plip. That resequences the alarm. The lights will stop flashing in any event in 20 mins.

Thanks all. Lots to try in the morning. I've disconnected the battery again overnight.

I was wondering what happened with that car.

Good to hear it's back in action.
