Well, I've gone and done it, I've ordered a Lexia 3 setup from Hong Kong (covers Pugs too). Cost £135 with free postage - hope it works
Don't suppose anyone here can point me in the direction of some kind of user's manual before I spend ages trawling the net ?

Forget about Lexia manuals - there is nothing of any real use out there. You will learn most by just plugging it in and exploring the features and it does have a sort of built in help section. Make sure that you get the 30 pin plug fully inserted into the XM diagnostic socket - the slide on the plug pulls the two halves together.
I bought a Lexia from China last year and have used it successfully on my EPIC equipped 2.1TD. Use of it on my wife's C4 has been a bit more problematic but I think I have tracked the problem down to the crappy 16 pin diagnostic socket in the car. Communication can only be established by continuously holding (and slightly twisting!) the Lexia plug firmly into the car socket which is a pain. I intend to change the socket for a better quality one when I discover how to get at it from behind.
On the whole I am happy with the Chinese Lexia, the biggest drawback initially was the lack of any useful installation instructions but I found a lot of helpful info on the digital-kaos.com forums.
We have other experienced Lexia users on the forum (Derek W and steelcity to name two + me) who can no doubt offer advice if you have problems.

Hi Colin,as long you have the PSA 30pin/obd and 2 pin adapter leads, the only issue you may have is running the keygen to activate the software. It's all on the cd but take care. You may have to open a text file,"version" on the C drive for the programme to load and run.I got the "planet Peugeot" cd with mine alongside the Citroen cd.The only problem i had was that i had to remove the partition on the laptop hdd to get the space,i think the citroen software is 6.5Gb.it's an old machine.
