Not been around for a bit!

I've not been active very much for the last couple of months due to work, and just generally having a lot to do and being kept busy by lambing season when not working too. Quite a lot has changed since I was active really too.

First of all my 306 HDi started to need a lot of work doing to it so I've decided to retire it from daily service and have repalced it with a 2007 Citroen C6 V6 HDi Exclusive in storm grey.

I collect the car on good Friday, what a car it is! Electric everything, it's so smooth, and soooooo quiet with it's double glazing. It really is a joy to drive.

Economy isn't great for a Diesel though, it takes around £80 - £90 to fill it and on the last tank I got 400 miles from it.

I've not got pictures yet but these will hopefully come this weekend as it's filthy after it's run home from Grimsby where it was traded in against an Audi A4. The guy who bought it new lost £28k in 2.5 years in depreciation on this one!!

Also, on 7th April (Wednesday) my 2000 Citroen XM V6 Exclusive with 50k miles started it's 8000 mile voyage in a 20 foot air tight container.

The car is due to arrive in Grangemouth where I will collect it on 17th May by trailer and take it back home where I will need to reregister it and get it plated for our roads again.

I purchased the car from Harry Bosswell, it's original owner who has been a member of the Citroen Car Club for years and won the concourse competition with this car back in 2001.

For anybody who is interested, here are some pictures I was sent by the owner and I will take some fresh ones of this when it arrives as well.

I'm also being told by the parents who are getting fed up of seeing Citroens that my 1992 Series 1 V6 24v XM might have to go as well which I'm not impressed about! My dad reckons that I'm not going to have time to get round to doing the cills on it and reckons that I should let someone else reep the reward of owning such a rare car.

That's a very nice XM, even the chrome trims are perfect.

I'll be interested to hear how you get on with the C6, your findings echo mine exactly...very, very quiet, reasonable but not startling performance and a bit heavy fuel consumption.

I think a 3.0Hdi could be interesting...though I'll let someone else lose the £10k per annum..even my Merc didn't lose that much initially.

Wow that Silver Exclusive is brand new! Look how clean the row of green relays are behind the left hand headlamp.

I'll be interested to hear of your experiences with the C6. C6 ownership is a few years away from me yet but it may happen some time.

Having the folks moan about having too many cars is a pain, but mine are getting used to it, and moan less; rather they know there is no point!

Wow you're creating the Citroen dream-team overthere! Just need to find an SM now and u'r done!! (Tell the parents "it's basically a Maserati").

Congratulations on the C6, I appreciate the looks of it more and more -I want one!-. Strange as I didn't like it much in the beginning, I thought it was watered down, I *wish* it had been a more extreme shape. But I guess I'm *so* bored of all the other new cars that it's mainly a reaction kind of!

Very nice the XM also (I can see what u'll be doing to it the 1st day it's at your place  ;) ) Will u be driving it daily, or u intend to keep it concours?

cheers and enjoy!!

Hi Guys,

I've only had the C6 for a week so I'm still getting to grips with all of the buttons and features.

The suspension is more wallowy then the XM, it feels like it's got a lot more diagonal pitch.

George, the XM is going to live indoors under a carcoon and is going to do no more then 1000 or 2000 miles a year. It'll remain concours.

David.

My XM lives indoors too. But it's just a shuttered concrete garage. I don't drive it more than 3000 km per year and it has done only 53k, kilometres that is :D
It is almost concours - a few scratches on the front bumper
Whether it will stay (almost) concours remains to be seen! I don't intend to drive it as a museum piece.

Once Harry proposed to me exchanging information on maintenance and gremlins of the car, but that did not materialize. I guess he started looking for a new home for it, having decided a replacement was due. My XM has also been meticulously maintained, without gremlins worth mentioning so far, and that is something I have always done for all the 40 or more cars I've owned since the mid 1960s! Guess my age  I can't stand it when something is not working as it is supposed to be.

Anyway, I am pleased David is dedicated to treat this XM with the respect it deserves Image

Well after no success in fixing the heater on Cheryl's Xantia HDi i decided to relax a little and take some time to wash the C6.

I didn't realise how big the thing was until it needed a wash!

Enjoy.....

I love the colour, that would sit nicely beside my Si!

The C6 is a big car, quite a bit bigger than a Xm. The Xm is not as long as the CX as well.

What an elegant and stylish car. I love this color, it looks like it has blue hues, not just a plain grey/silver. Or was it because of the blue sky?

David, does the C6 have a "normal/sport" button for the suspension, or there's no such choice in this development of the hydractive?

What's the mileage -I'm trying to see how well the driver's seat leather stands time-?

Hope it's only miles and miles of pleasure and no problems for you -from what I read in french forums, it is generally reliable (some people get faults however, incl. electronic, hydraulic)-.

Just curious, do u know the ex-owner and what car he got next?

cheers
George

George,

There is a sorta blue tinge through the paint!

Mileage is 24,500 miles and the drivers seat still looks like new.

There is a sports button, yes.

The owner moved house and no longer had a driveway apparently so he traded it in for an Audi A4 Esate so that it didn't stand out like a sore thumb.

David.
