XM Series 3 !!!!

Post by SteveLP » Sat Feb 27, 2010 7:07 pm

Just for those who haven't visited the Citroenet website - full of good stuff. http://www.citroenet.org.uk/.

And lots on pre-production XMs of course!

And for those who can't wait to see the new XM Serie 3 - here it is!

The whole article is here:

Thankfully they thought better of it and never went ahead with it.

And the XM pages are here:

Anyone fancy a trip to the Citroen Museum :)

Not so much a facelift as a facedrop. :?

I didn't like the Xsara before but to see this foisted upon an Xm by one isn't a pretty sight. In the end,
it's best left where they found it - real Hammer House Horror stuff this though thanks for posting it mind,
Makes the model we all know so well so much sharper and attractive MORE than it already was!

The fully developed door mirrors would suggest it was a S2 being fettled rather than a '94 as commented
on in the site linked.

that is surely the most disgusting bit of design ever to have graced the automotive industry, its just wrong in so many ways, interesting, but wrong.

Fortunately common sense prevailed and the plan was squashed Image

Here are some more pics for you. These were in the XM 20th anniversary dossier in Citromania Magazine.

It looks horiffic. However, I would rather a Series 3 XM than a C5.

The offside view manages to make an Xm look like a Renault 19 or 25!?

Either that or something that's been shipped out of Korea. I'm wondering
actually if it's another joint venture development with Citreon and other
'strategic partners' and was set for China or Iran like the Zx, C4 and Xantia.

Gee, that's bad. Cross an XM with a Xara, Xantia, Renault Safranne and no imagination or flair and you get this mostrosity.

Thank God that never escaped..

That looks like it was designed by an accountant. Citroens should be designed by 5 year olds, for the full wacky element.

It looks like there was no retooling for that at all as all the changes were add on parts such as nosecone and an extension to the rear, which also looks like an add on past the rear wings.

I'm not sure what is worst. The hideous headlights or the loss of the lovely "floating roof" design with the hideous additional D pillar. Thank goodness it never happened.

That test mule Cx looks handy though - according to the Xm books it was V6 powered... :P
Yes please!

I could almost live with the rear pillar, but there's no way the generic 'X' nose works... surely someone in an XM would not appreciate it looking virtually indistiguishable in a rear view mirror from a Xsara/Xantia/Saxo et al?! And then, when it apssed, you get to look at the 'Peugeot' rear. What an abomination.
