2.1TD Accident

The site this is located on is hard to get running but it seems to be a for sale for spares ad?

For the Xm now, not the Escort?

Seems a fairly hefty collision judging by the deformation on the Xm (as well as the resting position of the Escort!).
Can't work out where the Escort was. Did the Xm overtake on the nice straight road as the Escort turned right
without indication - that's be about right if they're driven the same as they are over here...

The XM has took some hit, by the looks of it is was still running after the smash, you can see in the 3rd picture where the gravel is dug up where they have tried to back it out.

When they were new and yet still very rare, Cx GTi Turbos were alleged to have potentially lethal issues
with their accelerator cable sticking on full as it dried up and became seized up due to the cable running
right above the downpipe and turbo...

Never had this problem myself and you'd just dump the clutch wouldn't you!? Unless you're American and
drive up to 150mph?

Judging by the skid marks it's fairly apparent the Xm was 'motoring' and approaching the junction where it
still faces it the same direction of travel. I wonder from the kinked braking line that the change in direction
is where the impact occurred?

The Escort must've been approaching the junction from the opposite direction and was turning accross the
Xm's path to exit onto the side road and had a hard smack being T-boned by the offside front of the Xm
which then propelled it into the ditch? The Escort was turning across the main flow of a slightly twisting open
country road near an unsighted brow for the approaching galloping Xm? Would be the Ford driver's fault.

I'm deliberating all this not due to being morbid or anything but to judge how well these stand up in a hard
thump - the speed would've been reduced hard judging by the skids but it still looks substantial.

So no Xm ABS? Typical flaky brakes with the ABS light on?

Robert - do you think the car has tried reversing out of the gravel; wouldn't that still be the car finally
braking to a stop in the loose stuff?
