Well, maybe not the biggest but:

"Why chose the XM?" I have recently acquired my first (there's optimism for you!) XM having had a mixed diet which has included more than my fair share of BXs. I think it has the potential to win me over. But really, why? I find it difficult to answer: Maybe it's the fact it's a Citroen with green blood. It's bigger than a BX, certainly, but I wouldn't call it more practical. It goes and stops and looks beautiful, to my eye. I do find the driving position less comfortable than the BX GTi (but then again not many cars are as comfortable as that). But it is better built and certainly has more toys. In short I'm not sure why I have ended up with an XM, but I already know it's something I'm likely to appreciate!

So what about you?

I've always had an affection for the Xm ever since I was a kid (I'm 26). When we got our first Xantia in '93, I was always attracted to the XMs in the showroom, and seduced by them. I would go straight to the Xms. I was always pestering my Dad to get one, at that time I wasn't aware of the price differences between the nice Exclusive spec Xms I was looking at in the showroom, compared to our base model 1.9D Xantia, and later LX Xantia.

The cars rareity and exlcusivity is also appleaing to me anyway. I love the syling, and I love driving them. I know it is going to be very hard to find a replacement to the XM. In the same way that it will be hard to find a replacement to the Xantia. The C5 is garbage in my opinion, and the C6 I fear may be dissapointing too.

I think the XM has a FAR FAR supeior driving position to the BX, the BX wheel is fixed, and is at too much of a raked angle for me, seating adjustment was good, as in the tilt on the seat, but they were not height adjustable!

To me, the XM has the PERFECT driving position, seat right up on high, steering has rake and reach so its virtually impossible to NOT get the perfect driving position.

Seats also very supportive, for my back anyway!

I drifted into XM ownership as the natural successor to the CX, in some respects its not as good but its the next best thing. It combines the best qualities of many cars. Comfort is probably the primary requirement for me, the only other cars that have it are the big Jags, but they don't have anything like the space or fuel economy. The 'E' class mercs are nice, about as much room but not as economical, expensive to repair and they go rusty, so as I see it the XM is the ultimate car if you need comfort, space and economy - and something you can repair yourself. Oh,and none of these other cars have self levelling supension all round, brilliant for stability with heavy loads and minimising front tyre wear.
