Headroom

This is possibly a question got Jorgy, but anyone can answer if they know.

Does a no sunroof hatch XM have noticably better headroom than one with a sunroof? I've only seen one no sunroof hatch for sale and you all know where that is. Apart from the Lucas pump, the solid red paint, it only being a VSX and the glue sniffers price, it would be just right...

Thankfully I'm not as tall as you D'man, so having a sunroof is not an issue! No idea on the height difference though.

C5s are good for tall people - who insist on wearing Top Hats when driving as well.

There is about 35mm more headroom in an estate than an XM car.
This is due to a raised roof height as part of the design.
Not sure about the sun roof difference but suspect that the full headlining is little difference in height to underside of glass.

Yes, there's a couple of extra inches headroom in a Continental AC only no sunroof
XM saloon ass the headlining is sculted up more into the heavens in the newfound
extra space.

Never bothered me as I have comfortable room with the standard sunroof. I'm not
short either but there's enough space above me not to trouble me. Guess if I was
an inch or two taller a sunroof could be a hassle. The electric motor seats mean
you sit higher in them than standard manual adjust ones so it'd be worth trying to
sit in one of these to find how it may suit you and be worth sourcing.

Unless you have long arms and short legs, your not going to like the XM with sunroof. I'm only a little guy (Just under 6") and my head bangs against the side of roof lining where the blind covers the sunroof. I like to sit upright though. If you lay the seat back and have long arms so you can reach the steering wheel.... You'll be ok... Or short legs, so you can move the seat forward (without having your knees up around your head).

It's crazy that my old squeazy CX has more headroom than an XM. Get one without a sunroof if you can, there bloody horrible things that invite heat stroke.... you bloody die if you open there blinds, they leak, there noisy, they rust ... they seize ..... You would never dream of opening one if the suns out .... Bloody shocking things, luckily my CX has no sunroof

I've had a series 1 and series 1.5 and had soemthing of a problem with head/rooflining interferencce, but sitting in a series 2 Exclusive seemed ridiculous..

I'm 6' 5" and have only had XM's with sunroofs.

I don't drive bolt upright, but I don't drive lying down either.

I can't say I've ever complained about the head room in the hatch with the sunroof.

We don't get the 'killer' heat you guys do Shane although when the sun does make a momentary showing
here, rather than be avoided and hated it's embraced and celebrated - this country of ours complete with
all it's rubbish rain buys more convertibles than any other - we're obsessed about the weather as a Nation
- no wonder when it's nearly ALWAYS raining off the Atlantic or Snowing off Siberia!! When the sun comes
out we all go mad!!

Xm sunroofs don't rot the way they can on Cx's but they pack up in many varied and irritating ways.
That said, when the lid can pop up tilted in an Xm it can be great for drawing heat out through the
car and a great way of casting whatever meagre light there usually is on offer into a dark interior
even with the much lower belt line/window height compared with a Cx - probably the biggest
difference in "feel" between both cars in everyday driving before you start talking about DIRAVI!

I got it .... You guys all drive around with the sunroof blind open.... So you head sits up in the "hole" there. Try closing the sunroof blind and see how much headroom you have.

I can't understand how someone that's 6' 5" could fit in without laying the seat wwwwaaaayyyy back. Maybe the seat lowers to the floor the further it rolls back on it's tracks (obviously you have way longer legs from me, so you will have the seat a lot further back ... so possibly lower ??.

That reminds me of those lame @rse seats.... gimme nice manual seats anyday to the sssslllllloooooooooooooowwwww electric seats. My wife always winds the seat waaaayyy forward, so to even fit in the car I have to stand in the open door and wind the bloody thing all the way back. In the Xantia I just lifted the adjuster bar and slid the seat as far back as it would go ... in about 1/2second .... Which was the right position.

I'm 6' 6" and yet I have to say the XM is the most comfortable car I have driven, and has I feel completely uncramped (unlike in a CX, sadly, in which there is not enough legroom for me...). I think this just goes to show how we all favour different driving positions; my back (which I have trouble with) favours a slightly reclined sitting position(just as well I have long arms!), and so (thankfully) I have no contact with the headlining. Further, I find the legroom very good, and can stretch my left leg right out to the left of the footbrake. If only there were space to stretch out my right foot to the right of the accelerator when using cruise it would be perfect, although on reflection this would slow down my ability to brake in an emergency...
