Well well
My much discussed abs fault seems to have 'cured' itself! Amazing!
Got in today and no faults reported on the screen or lights been like that all day now
In ats juat now having the wheels balanced as they vibrate horribly and the tracking done as she pulls to starboard horribly

Fixed itself eh?
Welcome to XM ownership
Its not so much owning the car, as you're just there, sharing the XM experience. It will do what it wants, including fix itself.

Well - so far this week I have driven from:

Edinburgh to Peterborough - A68-Darlington - A1 to Peterborough. The 130 miles of A68 in the XM was fantastic - car behaved brilliantly and like my old CX cross country very quickly with a high average speed.

Peterborough to Kings Lynn
Kings Lynn to St Albans
St Albans to Edinburgh (last night - 6 hours non stop)

I've put new Firestones on the front and will do the same to the back next week.

The ABS problem is back BUT - it ONLY happens in the wet. yesterday all was fine until I hit filthy weather in Cheshire - Fault manifests - this morning it has been dry - fault has gone - this has happened 3 times in the last week.

Any tips on where to spray the silicone/WD40 - clearly damp is int he 'lectrics somewhere - anywhere more prone than others?

I will MOT it on a dry day!

Try cleaning any muck from the front sensor rings teeth with an airline.
Oilly grot in the ring teeth has large volumes of steel filing from brake disk wear.
It can distort and reduce the magnetic field for the ABS sensor particularly when wet.
