FCF Problems Again

Post by CitroJim » Tue Jan 12, 2010 1:27 pm

Sadly, the new FCF webserver is about as stable as quicksand and is up and down like a fidders elbow at the moment.

I have now logged a support call with the hosting company having observed it go up and down four times today. It is getting worse.

Trouble is, on occasions it is corrupting the forum databses.

I'm hoping the hosting company will fix it soon. meanwhile please bear with me on this.

Apologies for the problems this is causing...

Sorry you're having so many problems Jim, with the normally reliable Webfusion.

After our own problems a month or so ago, I was giving consideration to taking out a hosting account with them for Club-XM, but based on recent events, I'm in two minds about it.

Guess the sad reality is any hosting provider can be prone to problems, though FCF seems to have had more than its fair share of bad luck on that front lately :(

Hope its sorted now.

Touch-wood Ciarán, and hopefully yes. I went through the server (a W2008 VPS) with a fine-toothed comb and could find no reason for the crashes and nor cold Webfusion. Event logs told nothing that could account for it...

This evening it went down again but that was to give me a new server. Webfusion, to their excellent credit moved all the data across to the new and configured the new VPS to look just like the old one bar login credentials.

I was impressed. I was at the point of telling them, if they did not do something to my satisfaction, that I would be off (reluctantly) to find a new host.

Just hoping this one is a good 'un. After experiencing W2K3 servers that could go for 15 months without a reboot, W2008 has a lot to live up to and I've zero faith in it at present. time may change my mind.

One good thing is that my knowledge of W2008 Server is now quite high. I just wish I did not have to learn it under such circumstances....

So, in the end, Webfusion came good :D
