If the old accumulator was dead flat it will take longer to pressurise. You see cars with dead flat spheres will lift the quickest (there is no reseviour capabilities in any of the spheres, all all the fluid pump goes straight to lifting the car). The next fastest is a car with fully charged spheres (they have less reseviour capacity). The slowest car to lift by a long shot is one with "almost flat" spheres. You see you must first fill all the spheres will LHM before the car starts to lift.

Cars always behave differently/weirdly after you have had the hydraulics apart (usually for the better, eg: staying up for hours longer than usual). The cars "normal" behaviour usually returns within a few days.

You can reseat the ball by sticking it in with some grease and giving it a smart tap with a hammer via a drift of some sort, only hit it once though. The whole system with the exception of the brakes is self bleeding but it can take a little while to get right through.

You could disconnect the mini control box on the back of the passengers side front door card. Thats where I would start. I have never had need to disconnect it.

I once had a drip from the interior light panel above the centre console, and the switch got wet, and the passengers side mirror had a mind of its own. Disconnecting the switch stopped it messing about but I can't remember if the auto-dip was still working then.

Hi Harryjoe, you will have to take the door card off to access the mirror connectors. The switch though is the usual cause, but if you say it's angled down, is it indexed to reverse selection and the problem is therefore here?

It sounds as if someone was playing silly buggers when they set the auto dip.

To set it, put the car into reverse, and then set the mirror to the position you want it to dip to on engaging reverse. It should save automatically.

Hi all !

still not got to the bottom of disconecting the n/s mirror, but it has been an eventful day :)

I thought i would just do a basic look over the car before the mot tomorrow, all seemed fine until i put it on full lock to check over the odd gaitor or two as the Xm does have it's , fare share of them , and lone behold, n/s track rod end is U/S, , Ummm, as it happened my local motor parts factor had them in stock :o at the bargin price of £6.85 +vat, bargin i thought !!!! ;) ;) , only to find once i'd got the bloody thing off i found that the giator on the top for the track rod end is buggered as well   ,

trying to sorce one of those at 4pm in the afternoon to fit tonight was impossible, even my local Citroen dealer needed 7 day to get on from France   , sooo i managed to find one at a motor factors in nearby Uckfield, so i'm picking that up in the morning at 8am and try an put it all back together agian.

I pursume that fitting this gaitor is as simple as sliding it up the track rod end , onto the end of the sterring rack ?
