Picking up another XM

Off topic chat about anything you like. Doesn't have to be about XMs (though they will inevitibly come up!). You can even discuss non-Citroens :o in here!

Just one thing after another, lots of silly things, but money, and especially time, are luxuries I just don't have at the moment.

Main things, infuriatingly intermittent suspension issues, hyd leak (now sorted), intermittent coolant leak, dodgy 5th gear, odd misfiring / running issue, heater blower, and now this morning, when I can least do without it of course, the alternator has failed...

Nothing major at all, just haven't the time to do anything at the moment. I'm probably overreacting, I love it really :D

Jings, its just getting better. That all would do my titties in big style.

Handy to just hop into another Xm, and repair at your leisure and when funds permit.

It looks really nice Phil. I'm surprised at the lack of interest.
I have to say I'm tempted (even though it is a manual).
But work's really slack at the moment so funds are really tight.
I'd have to get rid of at least one of the others.......quickly.
But it would probably be better value for money than getting my green TCT repaired after the petrol garage bump.

I'll see what I can do. If it gets as far as Ebay I might have a bid on it.

Where are you Phil? (at least 200 miles away no doubt....they always are  )

Also, can you tell me what sort of interior trim it has (fingers crossed it's not leather), and does it have anti sink?

Thanks,

Paul

I'm in Chelmsford, Essex. Yes, probably 200 miles away!

I'd put it on eBay on a 'BINBO' (Buy It Now or Best Offer). And I would take a view on any reasonable offer.

As for the car, it's alcantara and velour (rather tasteful). The driver's seat side bolster has had a patch (surprise, surprise). I'll post some pics up tomorrow. I don't believe it has anti-sink, because... well, it sinks a bit

What's tricky is short tax and ticket but that is reflected in my expectations. I have loads of bills for it, which shows it's been a case of no expense spared throughout its life so that (and having had a look around and under the car as well as driving 700 miles in two days in it) I have no reason to expect a problem come MOT time. It's never failed an MOT with the exception of the last one which was down to a handbrake cable. All good now.

Hi Phil,
What would be you rock bottom price right now? I have quite a few faults showing up on my estate that will take some time to fix, a spare XM would maybe be the answer, but, cash is pretty tight, space is non existant and it is a petrol drinker! The car being used would have to be in the car park, free though as I have a disabled sticker.
To be perfectly honest I would only keep the car as long as it took to repair first any faults on yours, then all the faults on the estate. all repairs have to be done in my smallish parking lot, just big enough to get the estate onto but plenty of room both sides.
On the Estae I may have a clutch job to do soon, I'm waiting for used parts to try cure the bumpy ride at the rear, and quite a few small jobs are cropping up too.

Oh well, I'll just have to try my luck on Ebay but doubt if my £500.00 will get me anywhere. I hope you do well.
