Hi Colin,

Received my quadrant today - thanks a lot. It looks too good to hide in the bowels of the car, I think I will display it on the mantelpiece as a conversation piece!

Hi Colin

looks nice but, why not keep the original roller bearing in the steel replication item? Will it be not needed? Will this be okay after a while with just some grease? Could it not go sticky? (sorry if this doesn't make sense at all, I have no knowledge whatsoever of materials' behavior and similar other science...)

thanks
George

Hi George,

To add a roller bearing would significantly increase the cost and simply isn't required as the 316 stainless units that I've produced won't rust or tarnish in the bores as would mild steel, they are also operating on case hardened steel pins which means that they won't bind either as both components are of totally different materials. The roller bearings were fitted originally as Citroen's components are made of injection moulded plastic and would not be considered wear resistant enough to operate upon the swivel pin unaided. They did consider that this material was strong enough to pull the two attached cables though... hence the problem and the reason for re-manufacture in a more appropriate material.

Hope this makes sense, Colin.P

Hi all.

I've been asked to produce one more of the clutch quadrants but as it's not feasible to rig up for just one off (and I don't want to waste my time making a batch just to throw in the shed ;) ) I'm offering to take orders again to justify my spending several hours at work at the weekend when I could be doing something much more fun instead ;)

If anyone is interested please email me (private messages don't often get to me...)

Cheers, Colin.P

Hi all, I haven't been on here for a while due to not having an xm any more (my son's now got it ) although I do lurk to keep my finger "on the pulse" ;)

Anyway, once more I've been asked about supplying these quadrants in stainless steel but am still reluctant to "tool up" unless there's a small demand, say ten units to make it worthwhile for me - so anyone interested ? the price will be a little cheaper than before as the programming is already done but please be aware that the postage costs are a little pricey as these things are quite heavy for their size...

If interested please mail me on: citxm(at)online.no (private messages through this board don't always get to me).

Best wishes to all, Colin.P

Colin,

Thanks for the prompt response to my email! Hope you attract sufficient interest to make it worth while manufacturing a batch of these.

Regards,

Greg
