HELP - all the brakes are binding on!!

Off topic chat about anything you like. Doesn't have to be about XMs (though they will inevitibly come up!). You can even discuss non-Citroens :o in here!

Well, you're all spot on, the pivot of the actuator quadrant was seriously stiff and sticking on creating
significant braking effort even after the brake pedal was allowed off. Shame it's all stuffed behind the
scuttle trim where you cannot easily get access to lubricate it and where the silly plastic end plates get
unnecessary handling grief where the brittle fragile lugs can be eaily damaged. Sad I had to disturb it
all really as I don't think this particular car has ever been taken apart in this respect.

I'll need to keep an eye on it but normal service has been resumed. This Xm is never driven hard so no
heavy braking and is an infrequent use car so there's every chance this issue will recur again. A spring
to return the lever would be a help even aftre the doseur has pressured back it's centre piston.

I think the sticky quadrant could well be the cause of XM brakes being slow to release after application.
