Ok sounds like that’s what my car is doing
There must be a timer somewhere is that relay a timer relay or is there a separate timer somewhere

Two more things I forgot to add to the MOT list
Neither my horn nor the windscreen washers work (wipers do)
But for those I need my multimeter I figure which is currently lost

Few questions today
I don’t know how I’ve not noticed but the mice have chewed through a few wires on the harness that sit on the drivers side suspension turret what do this harness connect up to

I also found a large black.... thing behind the wing in front of the drivers side wheel I think it’s fuel related following the pipes best I could
also seems to have several electric components attached along the pipe too

Something my mechanic noticed is my drivers side steering rack gator has been attacked by the mice
Assuming this picture is of the one I will get which looking at the description it seems to be is this the correct one

Check the reostate for the dash lights it may be turned down to minimal,it's on the right hand side and is easily moved by your right knee if not change all the dash bulbs they go black with age

Will post a picture of the black thing when I can pressure regulator is coming off and being sent away tomorrow
it’s not important though was just courious what it was and my spheres should arrive tomorrow too

No the display is defiantly not illuminating at all as I’ve started the car and played with the rheostat at night anyway

The bulbs in the LH and RH displays are bayonet-holder 1.2W capless tungsten, like the rest of the instrument panel, and wired in parallel. As Norman says, they may just have expired with age.

There are two lighting feeds to the displays: one is IGN switch +12v (displays light up when IGN is on), and the other is a feed from the sidelight circuit, which tells the displays to dim. The dimming is to a fixed setting, by circuitry inside the module; it isn't controlled by the general dash-dimming rheostat. A similar arrangement exists for Radio and AC displays.

LH display (matrix) allows the two illumination bulbs to be removed from the back of the display casing, without opening it up.
RH (temp/trip) display has three similar bulbs, but needs the display case opening up to get access to them.

Access to both displays involves dismantling some of the dash.
I can open up a S2 dash in my sleep - but have never had to do this on S1.

also this spring (top one) is loose
i assume it should be connected in such a way so it helps to close the butterfly valve but when i do this it pops off the arm at full throttle where should it be

can anyone confirms this is the drivers side steering gator
