Updates from the garage, brakes all good, no leaks coming from anywhere (that's a first) and fluids all round are looking peachy. They've said it's as ready as it's ever going be.

On the A/C front there's a leaky pump. A replacement is on it's way from Germany but isn't going to make it in time to be fitted before tomorrow. Looks like it's windows down and sun roof open. Atleast that helps with fuel economy.

Biggest annoyance (but trivial in the big picture) is the door unlocking. A project to keep me busy while we're on the road!

Breakdown Cover Check. I'm with Lancaster Insurance via the CCC, covered for 'repatriation' if it's needed. Given the garages clean bill of health though I'm feeling quietly more confident we're going to get round and back without any assistance.

The XM in Chamonix after successfully negotiating the drive up the Forclaz Pass and the climb to Valorcine.

En-route, looking back towards the valley we'd cone from.

Oops don't worry the car doesn't actually look like that, the camera clearly doesn't handle altitude nearly as well as the XM.

Mighty impressed with the run. Well done. Wishing I could take my 2.1 Td auto on the run. Remember old Turby D, she is still going after a few serious bits done. Have to do cv joints next. Have a blast. I wonder what your turbo is like zippy as hell I'd say

Turns out the hill climbs didn't end there. The XM's today reached the Col de Glandon summit at 1924m. Both cars continue to perform very well at high altitudes, steep inclines and some pretty interesting hairpins.

Great last pic - very atmospheric - Alpine passes can be a bit like that.
Hydractive was made for those hairpins!

Hydractive blew me away on some of the climbs specifically the one heading up the col de la croix. We made it back in great shape, both XMs performed brilliantly without missing a beat.
