Today I commenced with operation "clean up K-BAN" sadly I ran out of time so it was just a quick general clean.
I started by stripping some bits of trim from the interior, this allowed me to remove the crud that accumulates between the gaps. I also learned that the release buttons for the stereo flap and ash-tray are illuminated!

Next was the headlining, I used brisk extra and on first attempt it cleaned up quite well... Can you spot the difference?

I cleaned the door cards and interior plastics. I then removed most of the mould from the silver trim on the doors.

Then came the outside... Snow foam time!

She's scrubbed up quite well for a quick wash... A little more time and she'll be looking as clean as CEO

I'm sure you'll agree that after a quick wash the difference is amazing

Wow, nice job Ray... Have the neighbours commented on the change of colour!... silver green to dark grey....

That headlining is terrific. It's also amazing where the crud, dust and little bits of god knows what ends up.

If you want the silver trims to clean up even more, you can either lightly sand them with 1500-2000 wet and dry and then polish them up, or a bit of Vaseline or nut oil works, or, for the side trims at least you can buy silver tape which is a cheap option. I used this on my old grey xm.

Great job! :D

Thanks Russ, I was talking to my neighbour this morning, he thought it was just dirty. Him and his wife have just gone off to Australia for a month so he's keen to see what this one looks like when he gets back, he's an ex-Xantia owner and always comments On CEO, he says it looks better every time he sees it.
Some of the silver trim has been replaced already, but I'll certainly keep, that in mind. First job is to clean her up as much as possible, and also repair the broken mount on the spoiler.

Yeah one of the mounts has gone, I'll do a temporary repair for now, until I figure how to do it properly. Some areldite or similar should do the job.

It certainly looks like the car is now in good hands Ray and well done for your efforts! As you have probably picked up, K-BAN did received the 'Vince treatment' under a previous owner, so the foundations for the paintwork and trim should have been promising! Regards, Matthew T.

Thinking about it further Ray on a 'K' plate strictly speaking your car should wear these alloys: Regards, Matthew T.
