Possibly know as "Orignal SEi alloys" .. Robs alloys were originally exclusive to the V6 24v Manual car to distinguish it from the rest.. however as the SEi became all colour coded like the 24v from 1992 the 24v alloys were used and the "Original SEi " alloys were dropped...

The Italia are my faves too. 8-) I can't decide if I want to paint mine or go the whole troublesome hog and get them diamond cut....
One thing I do want is a darker grey inset. Love the contrast.

You still have that mk1 Ciaran?

Russ I'm sure I've seen a picture where the centre discs are bright silver and the alloy outer is a darker metallic grey, they looked really nice!

Of course I don't mind, was very nice to see it, it spurs me on to get my act together restore the thing actually!

In answer to Russ' question, yes I still own it, but its been sadly 'resting' for the past four years. It has a few mechanical issues (5th gear went, needs a new box, which is in the boot), but I also suspect the head gasket is weak and a few other things so a full overhaul is in order. The plan is to restore it (well, to the best of my meager abilities anyway), I've got an S1.5 spares car with a good engine and box which will donate generously. Just space and lack of shelter / tools / time are the issue, but I'll get there, really determined to make a proper go of it in the new year.

Those wheels on it were repainted by the previous owner Ray, you're quite correct that the default setup is a light centre with dark grey apertures, it was originally like that but he had them painted all one colour. I think I prefer the dark grey bits and have been toying with the idea of having them painted like that again, but with everything else I haven't got round to it.

Some early car had wheels painted all over in silver Ciaran and I have some spares with this treatment although the grey background is more usual. I attach a photograph of a brand new early style alloy acquired from John M. The original sei rather the 24v alloys would be correct for your car Ray and were an option on lower spec models. With regards, Matthew T.

:D Thats how i like them, although i might go for a darker charcoal grey on the insert. That one of Matthew's is diamond cut. Its tricky as the centre caps have to be painted, so do you match the rims in paint like the caps, or effectively have three finishes.

Thats good news you still have your grey S1 Ciaran. Pulling the engine out isn't that bad.....he says!
