OK painting all done and car now 98% reassembled. Still plenty of cutting and polishing to do but looking decent.

Current problem is the lack of current. Looks like the battery has expired. Won't charge up and currently reading 11.2 volts :(

Question: what battery should she have. I cannot find a reliable guide and the handbook offers nothing.

An 096 should fit the XM, Rob. It's usually diesel spec (75Ah, 600A or more), so will spin up a petrol with ease.
Yuasa are good, and often on offer.

I will be VERY happy when it is out of the garage!

Lots of cutting and polishing to do plus a load of service items. She needs a service plus automatic transmission flush. I have a replacement FDV to go on and before she was stuck on the ramp the front height corrector was leaking :( I also want to replace the timing belt and water pump as their condition is unknown to me.

That said the priority will be to get her to the Citroen rally in September.

I have missed far too many events this year.

She's home!!

Needs a damn good wash and valet plus more detailing but off the hoist after the best part of 9 months. Great drive back. Wondering where all the potholes had gone :) :)

Happy boy until I filled the tank and spent £78!!!!!

Rear fog light woes. Everything else works but with the MoT being now expired I need to solve this as a priority. Can't here any click from the relay so removed glovebox and relay. Now struggling to find a replacement relay. I have hunted through the forum and found references to issues with broken wires at the boot lid and body shell junction and also issues with tow bar electrics.
Any advice, sources of the right relay etc etc welcome.

Can you not bridge the relay plug to eliminate it and then probe for electrickery at the tailgate?
Do you have any power at the fog switch? do you get switched power at the relay and supply voltage also?
Gabor's wiring diagram that John pointed me towards this week is actually very good and will help no end in this situation.

Of course there is the 'turn the item on and wiggle stuff' method which i find very productive in certain situations, its less risky than the 'turn the item on and hit stuff with a hammer' method too.

Need to PM you Rob, i have a proposal so keep an eye out.
