I moved the car out of the garage today and all seems well with vital fluids remaining in place etc. It was necessary to refit the section of exhaust under the engine as the joints I had loosened then started to blow but otherwise no further attention required. The hydraulics seem to have benefited for the rebuilt FDV although the steering still feels a little bit stiff. As the car came off the road prematurely I realize I still have nearly six months mot so she may get some use shortly! Regards, Matthew T. PS. I also sorted out the garage including my recently acquired spare 12v engine and set up the cobalt car for major surgery!

Yes Will I aim to complete with the best of them! Seriously though I hope to run XM into my dotage and bits are drying up elsewhere. With regards, Matthew T.

Although the engine starts with ease and ticks over very nicely it does appear to be running a little rich and on revving up it is certainly quite 'flat'. I have checked the plugs which are a bit sooty, plus the air cleaner, idle valve hose, lambda sensor wiring etc. without any obvious faults. A diagnostic check indicated faults with the manifold temp senor and throttle potentiometer, which I have changed without improvement, although the faults codes have not reappeared. It may just be stale petrol or a bad connection somewhere, but does anyone have any other thoughts? With regards, Matthew T.
