This is my Citroen XM which I got through contacts in the forum. It is my second Citroen, the first being a BX in the early 90's. My son loved the way it would rise up on starting. This was XM was bought, in part, to help me lug stuff during a house move but I have become rather attached to it. I love the economy, getting about 40 mpg and the sheer comfort of the car. I used to drive a Saab 9000 but the seats in the XM are even more comfortable than that. There's of course a few niggles. To be expected in a 16 year old car. The tensioner belt has been very noisy and the a/c pump wrenched itself from the sump yesterday, making a hole in the sump, losing oil and necessitating a spell in the garage. Hence my request for parts . . . Aluminium sump and a/c pump anyone????.
the guy from Wolsey Hall Motors is looking to see whether he has a sump and pump on a car in storage. Hopefully I'll get a call tomorrow but in the meantime let me know if you have these parts.

Happy motoring!

It looks a lovely car, they are definitely perfect for moving a lot of stuff...
More modern cars just have no character.
good luck with your search for the parts.

Try Malcolm at Savoy Garage for a sump. Be warned, early and late alloy sumps have different fittings for the a/c compressor.

I now where there is a complete engine for sale which should have a/c fitted, try Roger 01332 864414. This is the right age car for your parts.

Thanks Dieselman. I'll look into this! I was unaware of the different fittings . . .

It was good to hear more Veronica and gosh what a calamity with the a/c pump!! Has anyone had this happen before and I can sympathise after cracking an alloy sump slipping off a ramp. I also suggest you try Edwards & Son of Billericay who have many XM spares and are very efficient. I hope you manage to get the bits and have the car back on the road soon. Regards, Matthew T.

Malcolm at Savoy bought an early engine off me to use for one that had the same issue. It's due to the compressor bolt coming loose and the compressor then swinging about.

where is the car located, Catherine?

Hi. My car is in Wrexham, North Wales

Can I ask a daft question? The mechanic in the garage said that it was the a/c pump that had come adrift from the sump and that caused a hole in the sump. Is this the same as an a/c compressor? I have a number of places offering me a used/refurb compressor for about £100. Is that a good deal?

Cheers
Catherine
