Wow Matthew... another one! excellent!

I look forward to seeing it all cleaned up. I assume the wheels you are selling are the nasty three bar ones.
Do look horrid.

The colour looks slightly blue...but it is a very nice grey. Fingers crossed you get the F plate. Whilst reading through the posts I thought immediately of the F reg one in the mag article you have. Mystery that one too.

So this HAS to be at CXM next year. You have some time to sort it out!!!

Many thanks Rus and the Meteor Grey colour is a lighter version of what you have and does look very different according to the light, as the front and rear photos show. On the reg. I had the same procedure with the German car, for which it was necessary to obtain a 'proof of age' letter from Citroen UK. In this case all I have is the Polish document that only gives the date of 1994 and I would not really want a 'M' plate! I had hoped to get the 12v auto back on the road as a show car next year but who knows! With regards, Matthew T.

I was going to ask you at CXM, how your grey 12V was going....I suppose this one is even more of a curiosity to the XM fold, though. You really must push for the f plate. :D

I imagine you have watched the long 20 min video on YouTube of the XM offical launch. Well every press car there is meteor grey, what ever the spec and engine...with yours being so early, could there be a possibility it was used for that I wonder? Would be nice to think so, but doubtful.

Get the letter from Citroen confirming the build date.
If they offer an M reg on the basis of date of transfer to Poland then reject it as in breach of UK law.
The UK registration rules for private plates should be quoted.
It is not permitted to obtain a registration number that makes a car appear newer than it actually is.

Don't think that went back to France and was only over here for a short period of time? ;) Just a thought.

The position with the 12v auto Russ is that the engine is now fully rebuilt although the gearbox awaits a rebuild or replacement unit before reinstalling both in the car. I know the launch video you mean with the dozens of Meteor Grey XM and the same thought did cross my mind, which is just possible since the car would have been around at that time. The two Earls Court UK launch cars were also in Meteor Grey.
There should be no problem with getting the 'F' plate John since from my previous experience it is just securing the letter from Citroen UK!
I think there will be a few challenges along the way Jaap!
Just to mention a few quirks I have so far noticed with the early date there are no wing indicator repeaters or paint code letters on the inner wing and the access plugs against the front bumper corner bolts are also missing.
Regards, Matthew T.

I think that is quite possible Russ, especially as the car was a lower spec. model and lhd. Regards, Matthew T.

This is very interesting what you car doesn't have Matthew. French cars didn't have to have indicator repeaters for a while.. hence why it doesn't have them..I assume you will have to fit indicator repeaters to get through an MOT. or is it because it was built like that, it is okay?

If only these cars could talk....find out so much more!

I think you could safely say citroen seemed to have built a large batch of meteor grey cars at launch. So it really could have been used as a press car.
