				Noticed the yellow plate on the rear and white on the front. Is that normal in the UK? Haven't been there for a while  
 
I like the alloys, but they're not original, are they?  And why the mudflaps, do they serve a purpose on the XM? Mudflaps or mud guards, if you will, were mandatory conform some formula here in Japan in the late 1960s on passenger cars, but the rule was scrapped soon after as the effectiveness proved doubtful. I drove a Mazda with flaps  

 in 1969/70. Photos of the period all gone. Doesn't belong here anyway, sorry for the rant

Yes, that's how it is Jan.. Been like that since the beginning of 1973 when the old black and white plates were outlawed on cars any later than that date...
