Pretty sure that it's a Bosch Mechanical.

Orga says February 10th 1995.

That will be a Bosch pump, in which case it's either the shaft seal or, more likely, one of the delivery valve holders not tight enough so not sealing.

Wash it down and have a look, it should be easy enough to see.

Hello All,

Yes, it has transpired that I am officially rubbish at blogging!
However, it's time to start updating things- it is, as anyone looking at the thread dates will see, long overdue.
The dripping fuel issue has been left at this time. It hasn't caused an issue with performance or economy as far as I can tell. I am not so sure that it will be so trouble-free an issue come MOT time and thus I will investigate further at some point in the near future.

I haven't been completely idle however! :)

His and hers (blurry pic but why not):

I previously mentioned the grinding from the rear that was occurring- I sourced some nearly new front discs and pads from a forum member, and NOS rear discs and pads.
Time for some more work....

The fronts were changed without too much problem, though I see that those parking brake cables can be tricky to put back into the retainers!
When I got to the back, well- I found cobwebs within the calipers! The NS one revealed the fairly obvious problem:

:o

So with all discs and pads changed, I bled the ABS block, did Citrobics, and yes, things were well once again.
I did notice that after this the car rose as I believe it is supposed to, rear first, then front. Previously it had been the opposite of this.

I also acquired another XM!

I got this pretty cheaply on Ebay. I believe these were made to mark the launch of the XM.

French XM forum thread (translated)

£11.09 well spent I thought. :D

I am having problems changing the fuel filter. I took the canister off and I could not for the life of me figure out how it opened! I thought they all unscrewed at the top section with the fuel hose connectors but I couldn't do this. Possibly just too tight?
The canister was marked with VAG signs too. :?

Annoyed as this is basic maintainence and I have been left wondering what is wrong....

I love that BX- such fun to drive. Since last year's CXM has had a new alternator, timing belt and tensioners, and is currently waiting on a new speedo cable.

Your fuel filter is not original I think, so that's why you couldn't figure out how to open it :)
Love those pics and thanks for reminding me how a BX looks like, almost forgot! :)

I had suspected this about the fuel filter but couldn't be sure.

Although the service history seems sadly to have been lost I have a feeling that this XM has been enthusiast owned at some point. Small points I have noticed tell me that.

Hi Rohan, it is different, although clearly it is working! Is there a screw underneath the canister. With my purflux, a little black screw undoes the top and allows you to drain fuel off...I think, from my dreadful memory!!

Undo the big bracket attached to the battery box. And see underneath.

Loving the under lit glass XM. Very nice idea.
