I especially like the forecourt and interior shots! It is interesting that you are in Denmark and the car is a UK spec. model, so presumably she was imported there? The car is very slightly later than my two V6sei that have RP 4928 and 4938. With regards, Matthew T.

Great pictures... very atmospheric.
It's a very strong shade of Gold isn't it. Suits it. I quite like the picture of it in the water too.

Thanks for showing us.

The car was bought in England in 2004. At that time I lived in Cologne. After a run in with a truck I needed another car. After toying with getting one of the last square bodied Granadas (ideally a 2.3 litre V6) I saw an ad in the Citroenian for a car similar to the one that had been wrecked: 2 litres, manual and champagne for £900. So I took a one way flight to Stansted, was met by the owner who lived nearby and by lunchtime I was on the Dover ferry with my replacement XM. Two weeks after buying it a red metallic 2.3 Granada (1982) appeared on my road with a Zu Verkaufen sign in the window. How odd.

Here is one reason the XM is so useful: all this junk goes in the boot, barring the red baby chair. Then two adults, a 3 year old and an 10 month can travel in style up front.

I agree about the load carrying ability of the XM as we transport three children (4,7 and 9) and plus all our camping gear, although we do also have a large roof box. The self-leveling suspension certainly proves its worth, as it did on another recent occasion (see below)!! Regards, Matthew T.

Wow, impressive Matthew. They do have very large boots, very handy for all my stuff too. Plus with tow bar, I can get the trailer on as we'll.

I should add that I did not quite manage to shut the boot Russ and very nearly b-----d the suspension as the rest of the car was also crammed full with parts!! After redistributing some heavier pieces she did then lift off the ground and performed well on the 70+ mile trip home, despite having a bit more roll than usual on the corners! Regards, Matthew T. I'll have to dig out a pic of the Renault fully loaded on a family holiday. It is impressive. Imagine a fully loaded saloon, with trailer, bike rack with three bikes on the roof, and bike rack on the trailer. A couple of jaunts round France like this, knackered the rear wheel bearings and gearbox!
but for a 1.7, it took it in it's stride.

Xantia estates are quite accommodating too..

Here's an ES9 V6 in the back of one. This particular ES9 was in fact destined for a certain XM...

Image

Suspension rose up no problem at all...

And here's a 2.0TCT complete with gearbox going in the same car but on a different occasion...

On that occasion the engine crane was dismantled and travelled in with the engine and gearbox!
