What an amazing story Vince. Well done you for getting in touch with the previous owner and discovering all this. You are so lucky, because you now know everything about it now. Most cars have a hidden history..if only they could talk.

I really hope you get to meet Dean with the car.

All the best

Vince that is exellent, such a great story to go with the car now, i always thought about writing to the Mr Schindler who was the only previous owner of my XM, he lives down in dorset and i once drove past his house on the way down to devon and saw what i think was a peugoet 507 in the garage, didnt have time to stop though.

Vince, not only do you have a lovely car but you now have the pleasure of knowing much more of its pedigree- and through your efforts to do so you have made someone else happy by bringing back fond memories. Fantastic.

And as for the engine bay- well, I am sure I am not the only one eager for details of what products you used.

Also (I should have said ages ago), thanks for ruining my future by giving me a short trip in your XM at CXM and "sealing my fate"!

Re: Vince's 2.1td xm .... the winter fix up

Post by Vince » Sat Oct 06, 2012 9:16 pm

Well guys ive been busy and put in a few hours today on the old girl. The engine bay (topside at least) is now finished and the car has been given a good all over wash. I just found a picture of the engine bay when i picked up the car. Its come a million miles since then and doesnt show its 208.5K mile age. Before and after pictures for inspiration :D The before pics are all from the day it was picked up from Paul's ;)

Very lovely Vince. It's getting very minty now 8-)

I was amazed to watch Chris working some magic on mine with his machine polisher yesterday. What a difference :D
